Oshorun Cup:Dosu Academy Crash Out As Fackson, Tops FC Zoom Into Semis Dosu Football Academy this afternoon have crashed out of the ongoing Oshorun Saheed Football Competition. In the quarter final played on Thursday morning, Fackson Tofido Football Club defeated Dosu Joseph Football Academy 4-2 on penalties after two goals apiece at the regulation time. The pulsating encounter which was watched by hundreds of spectators held at the Rehabilitation sports center, Ojodu Berger, Lagos. Reacting to the defeat,Dosu Joseph Academy Coach,Kayode Agboola said his players did well but regretted that his team crashed out in the quarter final. “It was a good match unfortunately one of my players lost concentration in the last minute which gave our opponents equaliser.I cannot say much about penalty shootout because it can go either way. “I congratulate our opponents for this hard fough victory and wish them best of luck in their semi final game against Tops FC,”he said. Olympic Committee elect Gumel as President for the fifth time.

The incumbent president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC),  Habu Gumel , has won another term in office. The 73-year-old beat his closet challenger Sani Ndanusa in a keenly contested election in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Thursday. Gumel won the election with 21 votes to defeat the closest rival Sani Ndanusa who had 19 votes. Other elective posts are; the first Vice President Solomon Ogba won with 24 votes, while the 2nd Vice President Ishaku Tikon was unopposed. For the Second Vice President position, Ishaku Tikon of the Table Tennis Federation was returned as the winner, unopposed. The third Vice President Olumide Oyedeji won with 24 votes, Tunde Popoola emerged as the Secretary-General while Deputy General Secretary Abdullahi Muhammed was unopposed. FIFA graded Referee, Mateu Lahoz has been sent home and will no longer referee at the World Cup. Lahoz will not be officiating any of the remaining games at the World Cup as he ‘heads home from Qatar.’ According to COPE, the referee’s final game was the feisty quarter-final clash between Argentina and Netherlands, where he issued out an incredible 15 yellow cards. Super Falcons of Nigeria defender Michelle Alozie has signed a new contract with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team Houston Dash. The 25-year-old Alozie signed a new contract with Houston Dash announced on Thursday, December 8, 2022. After representing the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in college, Alozie joins her first professional team the Houston Dash in 2021. In a message on the official Houston Dash website, Alozie explained the reason she renewed her contract with the club. “To start of my professional career [here], it’s just been really nice and welcoming. FIFA have confirmed Argentina are being investigated after the scenes during their 2022 World Cup quarter-final win over the Netherlands. The South Americans needed penalties to book their semi-finals spot. Lionel Messi had set up Nahuel Molina to open the scoring before converting from the spot, as the Albiceleste looked to go through comfortably. But Wout Weghorst came off the bench in the second half to force extra-time with a late double. It was a feisty encounter, with referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz issuing over a dozen yellow cards. Lahoz also showed a red card to Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries after the match ended. The Sports Minister Sunday Dare has congratulated 3SC of Ibadan for winning the NPFL pre season tournament dubbed the Dozy Mmobuosi Cup. 3SC defeated Enyimba FC of Aba 3- 2 to emerge winners of the Super Four Competition on Friday inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. According to the Minister, “I want to first congratulate the organisers for putting up a quality pre season tournament, where the winner is taking home N100 million, 2nd placed team N75 million and the 3rd place winners N50 million, that’s quite remarkable and commendable. I’m glad that we are beginning to get it right as far as the league is concerned. “This Super Four signifies what is expected in the league.
