Lagos Commence Renovation Of Teslim Balogun Stadium To An All-Covered Complex After CAF Ban.

The Lagos State government has commenced the renovation of the Teslim Balogun Stadium to an all-covered complex.

Construction of the stadium, located directly opposite the National Stadium in Surulere, started in 1984 under the administration of the military governor and was completed in 2007 after years of being abandoned.

The Stadium which hosted some matches of the Nigeria Super Eagles 2022 World Cup Qualifiers was banned from hosting international matches due to its bad condition.

According to reports, some pillars had been mounted around the seating arena, preparing it to become an all-covered stadium. A bulldozer was levelling the tartan track, which was re-lag build-up build up to Eko 2012 National Sports Festival.

The Stadium is expected to be ready in a few months.
