CAF Announces Date, Venue for 2022 Awards.

African soccer governing body ( CAF) has announced the date and venue for the 2022 CAF Awards, Spectacular 9ja reports.

The football body announced July 21st 2022 as the date for the award ceremony, billed to take place in North African nation Rabat, Morocco.

“The event also coincides with the second anniversary of the launch of CAF’s women’s football strategy,” the Confederation said in a statement.

We also learn that a new category has been introduced following the launch of the CAF Women’s Champions League last November. This is the “Interclubs Player of the Year”.

In addition to the coveted traditional Player and Player of the Year awards, there are also Interclub Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the year and goal of the year.

The panel of voters are the captains and coaches of the member associations, the CAF technical study group, the selected journalists, and the Legends of African football. The period under review is from September 2021 until June 2022.

The previous edition was held in 2019 in Hurghada, Egypt. Senegalese striker Sadio Mané and Nigerian Asisat Oshoala won the player and player of the year titles respectively.

Aruna returns to top 20 in latest ITTF Ranking.

Quadri Aruna made a quick return to the top 20 in the latest ITTF Ranking released on Tuesday, April 16, by the world table tennis ruling body. In the rating list made public by ITTF, the Nigerian gained three steps up the ranking to occupy 19th spot in the ranking. In the last two rankings, Aruna slid to 22 after missing the World Team Championships in Korea as well as the WTT Champions in Incheon but he has fought his way back to the elite rank of the rating. African Games champion, Omar Assar of Egypt also gained one step up the rating to be ranked 16 in the world.
