Ottasolo records famous victory in Warri to dump Abia Warriors out of NFF/Aiteo Cup.

Ottaso FC Lagos who are featuring in the Federation Cup for the first time recorded a famous victory to zoom to the NFF/Aiteo Cup 2022 round 32 after defeating Abia Warriors 2-1 in a highly competitive contest at the Warri Township Stadium, Warri. 

The Solo Boys lived it late as two late strike from Ugonna Samson and Ayodele Shina canceled Ahmed Yakub's 50th minute low strike to dump Abia Warrios out of the NFF/AiteoCup 2022.

The Solo Boys started on a slow pace which allowed Abia Warriors to garnered more possession as Yakub Ahmed and Nweke Kalu who dictated the pace of the game met a strong competition in the likes of Francis Anene, Samuel Ogunjimi and Abba Tijani in the middle of the park.

The Solo Boys who were tagged the underdogs in the build to this encounter proved to the Warri football enthusiasts who came in their numbers to see the game, that they are team to beat as they were able to match the Abia State representative strength for strength and pace for pace.

Ottasolo striker, Ademola Adebambo was unlucky when his close range effort crashed against the woodwork and guilty of not converting a golden opportunity that could have put his team on the driving seat in the first half.

Despite enjoying better possession, Abia Warrios could only manage a shot at goal as both teams went to the break with no goal to separate them.

On resumption, both teams started from where they stopped as Abia Warriors continued to dominate possession. 

The Umuahia based team finally got their deserved goal on 50th minute through Ahmed Yakub who powered home a low freekick from the edge of the box. 

The Solo Boys trailed for 30 minutes until the gaffer of the side, Oladunni Oyekale introduced the two Super Subs, Ayodele Shina and Ugonna Samson which happened to be the beginning of the turning point.

The young striker made his impact felt immediately as he provided a clever assist for Ugonna Samson to gift the Lagosians the equalizer on 87th minute.

Energetic Ayodele Shina would later register his name on the scorer's sheet with a pinpoint strike after he had rounded Abia Warriors goalie, Pius Ibrahim to give Ottasolo the important lead.

Abia Warriors poked and knocked but they were repelled by the resolute defense of Ottasolo as the game ended 2-1.

Super Sub, Ayodele Shina was voted as Man of the match.

"My Boys respected Abia Warriors too much and as a result gave them room to dominate the midfield in the first half. 

"We tried to correct the lapses during the break and it worked really well for us. 

"Kudos to the players, after conceding the goal, they fought back with everything and got the two goals. 

"Our attention has now been shifted to the next match. We must start our preparations immediately. 

"No doubt a good game and maximum respect to Abia Warriors. They showed and proved that they are plying their trade in the country's top flight league.
