Rivers United Players Get $20,000 Each For Winning The League.

Rivers United players and officials have been heavily rewarded for their heroic efforts in winning the Nigeria Professional Football League by the State governor, Nyesom Wike, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Port Harcourt based club won the state's first ever NPFL title with a record 77 points this season after many failed attempts.

This happens to be a parting gift for the governor who's tenure ends next year.

Governor Nyesom Wike has invested heavily in the club since he took over the helm of affairs and the state and his investment yeilded towards the end of his tenure in office.

For this bravery act, the governor has thus rewarded the players with a cash prize of $20,000 each.

He also announced that the club will camp in Madrid for two weeks in preparation for their 2022/23 CAF Champions League campaign.

"Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike rewards members of Rivers United FC with $20,000 each for winning the @Llll#NPFL22 season," the club announced via its Facebook page.

"He says team will stay two weeks in Madrid to prepare for next season's CAF Champions League."

He also conferred on each member of the team the Governors Merit Service Award (GMSA).
