Injured Collins rated best EFL championship left-back

Cardiff City manager, Steve Morison has heaped praises on Nigerian international Jamilu Collins, declaring he’s the best in his position in the English Championship.

Collins, who is currently injured, is expected to spend some time on the sidelines and the manager is hoping the player will recover in time.

It was in the game between Cardiff and West Brom at The Hawthorns on Wednesday that the Super Eagles defender was taken off just in the ninth minute of their English Championship encounter that ended 0-0 goalless.

The former SC Paderborn man has been one of the Bluebirds’ top performers since he joined during the transfer window. Collins has featured in all of their four Championship fixtures helping his side  to keep three clean sheets.

Morison, who is yet to know the extent of the Nigerians’ injury, hopes his knee injury isn’t as bad as suspected.

“We don’t know the extent of Collins’ injury at the minute, in all honesty,” Morison said as per Wales online.

“He will be assessed in the coming days. With all the will in the world, let’s hope it is just that he’s in really bad pain at the minute and it’s not what we suspect it might be.

“I said to the lads at half-time, ‘If you’re going to put your bodies on the line for anyone, go and do it for him, because he has been the best left-back in the league so far.”
