Woodgate says Arsenal target Osimhen is destined for the Premier League.

Jonathan Woodgate disclosed that Arsenal summer target Victor Osimhen looks destined for the Premier League following his display against Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international was a handful against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League game staged at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night, though he also got injured in the match.

The 23-year-old started the match on a high, hitting a post inside 45 seconds, winning a penalty that Alisson Becker saved and was unfortunate not to get an assist after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia failed to convert from close range after the Super Eagle had done the hard work.

However, after 41 minutes, the striker was forced out.

Meanwhile, Osimhen performance will have caught the eye of several sides. Reports in June claimed that Arsenal had made a £51 million bid for the 23-year-old. Meanwhile, there has also been interest from Newcastle in recent times.

Both clubs ultimately signed a marquee striker this past summer. But you would imagine that Osimhen’s display did not go unnoticed.

Woodgate believes the West African had done enough in the high profile encounter to underline his potential for English football.

“The two centre-halves [Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez] will be absolutely delighted to see the back of Osimhen [after being substituted] because he has been so difficult to play against. He is destined for the Premier League,” the former Bournemouth manager told BBC as quoted by The Boot Room.

Aruna returns to top 20 in latest ITTF Ranking.

Quadri Aruna made a quick return to the top 20 in the latest ITTF Ranking released on Tuesday, April 16, by the world table tennis ruling body. In the rating list made public by ITTF, the Nigerian gained three steps up the ranking to occupy 19th spot in the ranking. In the last two rankings, Aruna slid to 22 after missing the World Team Championships in Korea as well as the WTT Champions in Incheon but he has fought his way back to the elite rank of the rating.
