NPFL Mid-Season Transfer: Doma FC Captures Barnabas Daniel & 2 Others, Plans to Finish Season Strong.

Head Coach of Doma United FC, Akinade Onigbinde has made new signings, aimed at beefing up the squad of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) new boys, ahead of the second stanza of the league, which is now observing a mid-season break, to allow players and officials of all 20 clubs in the elite division, perform their civic duties, in the general elections of February 25th and March 18th.

Top of the list of new acquisitions is Barnabas Daniel, a former highest goal scorer of the Nigeria National League (NNL) while in the books of Gombe United.

Daniel who joined from Kwara United, where he played the first round, is like home coming, as Doma United is also based in Gombe State.

Despite being a modest side who just got promoted to the elite league for the first time in history, Doma United is respectable 6th on the Group B log, with 12 points from nine games played, and has shown the stuff they are made up of, when coming from a goal down to beat reigning champions, Rivers United 2-1, at the Pantami Stadium.

To help them improve on their set goals in this Abridged NPFL season, two other players; Ekpenyong Emmanuel and Ufere Nwankwo have also joined Doma United, and Coach Onigbinde believes the trio should bring something new in terms of experience, and help them cross the finish line comfortably, while achieving their modest aspirations.

Ufere Nwankwo has played for Abia Warriors, Kwara United, Lobi Stars and Niger Tornadoes, within the space of two seasons and his versatility as a midfielder will be required in the middle of the pack.

On the other hand, Ekpenyong Emmanuel, a member of the Flying Eagles came into limelight last season, when he played for Ottasolo FC in the NNL.

He scored the goal that sent Abia Warriors packing in the Aiteo sponsored Nigerian Federation Cup last season, and more of such star performances are expected from the youngster, when the league resumes soon.

Details of the deals signed by the three new recruits, are sketchy but should be clearer in the coming days, when they will be unveiled at an elaborate ceremony to the media and fans of the club.
