WAFU B U20 Girls Cup: Nigeria thump Benin Republic 3-0; set up final with arch rivals Ghana.

Nigeria’s female U-20 national team Falconets defeated Benin Republic 3-0 at at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, to seal passage the final of the maiden U-20 WAFU B in Ghana.

Ahead of this semifinal clash, the Falconets were the tournament’s form team, having won all three of their games in Ghana, scoring 16 goals and conceding none.

Bello opened the scoring in the 24th minutes, as she drove through the heart of Benin’s defence to lash the ball past the goalkeeper for the opener.

Onyenezide made it 2-0 on 34th minutes from the penalty spot kick, after Flourish Sabastine was hacked down in the danger area of Benin Republic by forcing the referee to point to the spot for a penalty kick.

The Falconets continued with high spirit of dominance in the second half, and on the hour-mark, Onyenezide bagged her second goal went as she went on a solo run and danced past two defenders to make it 3-0 in the 62nd minutes for the Falconets.

Elsewhere, in the first semi-final on Wednesday Ghana came from a goal down to outsmart Burkina Faso 3-1.
