BREAKING NEWS: Sadiq Umar Ruled Out Of AFCON 2023.

According to a reliable source, the Super Eagles have suffered another late injury blow leading up to the 2023 AFCON as Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar has now also pulled out of the tournament.

 Sadiq has suffered a knee injury and he will be out of action for at least three weeks.

 Officials said he will now return to Spain to be attended to by his club medics.

 He failed to train fully with the rest of the Super Eagles squad yesterday and today.

 This would have been the striker’s second AFCON after he also featured at the 2021 edition in Cameroon.

 Victor Osimhen is now the only out-and-out striker on the Super Eagles squad before Sunday’s opening Group A clash against Equatorial Guinea.

 Both Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi are only due in Abidjan by the weekend and so effectively ruled out of this game.

Aruna returns to top 20 in latest ITTF Ranking.

Quadri Aruna made a quick return to the top 20 in the latest ITTF Ranking released on Tuesday, April 16, by the world table tennis ruling body. In the rating list made public by ITTF, the Nigerian gained three steps up the ranking to occupy 19th spot in the ranking. In the last two rankings, Aruna slid to 22 after missing the World Team Championships in Korea as well as the WTT Champions in Incheon but he has fought his way back to the elite rank of the rating. African Games champion, Omar Assar of Egypt also gained one step up the rating to be ranked 16 in the world.
